As musicians, we are primarily interested in what distinguishes an "artistic" sound from other sounds, and that is, above all, its "musical" character. Each instrument is unique not only in its frequency, but its individual character is also underpinned by its colouration. Stradivari's violins, thanks to their unique composition, sound different from the violins made by the average violin maker from less than perfectly dried or textured wood, which can be clearly heard in the result.
